James Frey — On the Fly

The endlessly compelling Bright, Shiny Morning comes out in its Perennial edition next week. Frey’s multi-perspective novel tells the story of L.A., and when Janet Maslin reviewed the book for the N.Y. Times, she called it a “captivating urban kaleidoscope.”

Here are two On the Fly videos his publicist, Colleen Clarke, recorded while he was in town doing media and an event last year. When he stopped by our office, everyone, boys included, stood around in the conference room with our chins on the floor. Frey’s demeanor is so friendly and easy-going that he had us at ease in minutes.
